GIRLS FROM AWAY!
Coming to the Gordon Pinsent Centre for the Arts in the summer of 2022 it’s the brand new musical “Girls From Away.”
This is the true never before told story of the hundreds of young women who were recruited during World War Two to leave the Dominion of Newfoundland and immigrate to Hespeler, Ontario, to run the largest textile mill in the British Empire. They transformed the entire region, and today one in four residents of the region claim Newfoundland roots. Bernardine and Nicole Smith have been developing this exciting new work for five years. The final product will debut at the Kitchen Party Theatre Festival in the summer of 2022 for Come Home Year!
There will be more exciting news coming in the new year for this fledgling festival.
